How to replace your heels (this will save me a ton)!

If you're like me, you wear through heels all the time.  Getting them replaced at by a cobbler is pretty quick and not too expensive (usually $10-15), when you compare it to buying a new pair of shoes.  But it can definitely add up!

I found these FabFeet Heel Replacements at Target and thought I'd give them a try.  You get 4 pairs for just over $5!

All you need is a pair of pliers to yank out the old ones and a hammer (or if you're lazy like me, the side of the pliers) to pound the new ones in and you're done!   Here's pics step by step of my favorite black peep toe pumps...

Before - one was completely missing the rubber part

After I had removed the old heel tip

New heel tip in, before finished hammering

Finished product!

Here's another before and after...

These probably would have looked better with nude heel tips, but for < $1.50, I can live with black!

Great January Style Tips from laurenconrad.com

Here's a teaser ... you can find the full set of tips here.
1. Wear a white coat. The fashion doctor is in! We love how a bright coat instantly brightens up a drab cold-weather ensemble.

Sky High Heels I'm Loving Right Now

After a hiatus for personal reasons, an important step toward finding my new self is HIGH HEELS, so here is my list of heels that are getting me excited about life!

NUMBER 1
Rebecca Minkoff
Marsha

Of course I had to start with one named Marsha ... it also just so happens that I <3 Rebecca Minkoff

NUMBER 2

Christian louboutin
PIGALLE SPIKES

I love any Louboutin, but I love the classic mixed with the spikes on this pump ... especially in the nude and black colors

NUMBER 3
Jimmy Choo
SISKIN

I love that the mix of neutrals makes this shoe interesting, but still versatile enough to wear with almost anything.  Plus, the ankle strap placed lower on the shoe is slimming!

NUMBER 4
B Brian Atwood
Beautiful pop of color in these Brian Atwood sandals...

NUMBER 5
Rachel Zoe

Platform Wedge Sandals - Katlyn High Heel

I love wedges and I the mix of black and gold is very on trend right now...

NUMBER 6
DV by Dolce Vita
Love the color and the cool silver detail.  These could add great pop to a LBD.

Planning outfits on Polyvore

My Polyvore Account

Work Outfits

I decided to start cataloging my outfits while I have time, for those days when I'm running late to work because I have nothing to wear...

Purple DVF Dress, Long Gold Chain Necklace, Rose Gold Marc Jacobs watch, Nude Steven Madden flats

Tweed Urban blazer, Light nude Marshall's dress, Beige BCBG pumps, Marc Jacobs necklace and watch

Baby blue Ralph Lauren sweater, Striped Limited maxi skirt, Brown skinny belt, Navy heels

Navy Ralph Lauren sweater, Theory dress, Navy heels, Purple sash

(This is part 1 of many)

Mirror Update

My mom was planning to give away a mirror we have in the guest room (my room while I'm home), but instead I thought I could update it by painting ...

The only tricky part was the hooks, which I needed to remove and fill in the holes.  It ended up being pretty simple though, I just used dry wall filler.

Just sanded, filled holes with dry wall filler, covered the mirror and spray painted.  I think it turned out pretty well!  (I did not do a good job of taking step by step pictures, I'm still learning)

New Year, New Commitment

Fortunately, I have done a better job of doing my projects than blogging about them!  So, I will slowly start to post about those.  And since the likelihood of this being for anyone more than myself is seeming less and less, I'm going to broaden the scope to include fashions I like, new outfits ideas and basically anything else that comes to mind...
